Robots need
teachers too.

Get paid for everyday skills robots still need to learn.

Record real tasks from your point of view, earn a base award when your Lesson is accepted, and earn royalties when your data is licensed.

You already know how.
They don't.

Every dishwasher loaded, shirt folded, machine cleaned, shelf stocked, garden tended, tool used and task completed contains thousands of decisions robots still need to learn.

Why Taught

Hourly gets paid once.
Great lessons can earn again.

Traditional hourly data work

Traditional hourly work: you record, you are paid once, and it ends.

When the shift ends, the earning opportunity usually ends with it.

Taught
Illustrative model

Taught, illustrated: a Lesson is accepted and earns a base award, then can earn royalties each time it is licensed, with potential future licenses.

Taught gives useful data a longer economic life.

01

Teachers receive a base award for accepted Lessons.

02

When eligible non-exclusive Lessons are licensed to robotics companies, Teachers receive a share of that licensing revenue.

03

Teachers progress through Teacher Levels on the quality of their work, from a 40% royalty share at Level 1 to 70% at Level 5.

Illustrative model. Royalties depend on licensing activity, are paid in Gold once the buyer's payment settles, and are not guaranteed.

Your best lesson shouldn't have a one-hour shelf life.

Taught isn't tied to one robot company.

For non-exclusive Lessons, Taught is designed to make useful training data available to multiple qualified robotics buyers.

That means one useful Lesson can have more than one potential customer.

Exclusive Lessons are different
  1. 01Exclusive Lesson
  2. Funded by one robotics buyer
  3. A guaranteed one-time award instead of royalties
  4. Licensed exclusively to that buyer

When a robotics company needs exclusive data, it funds a Lesson with its own requirements and award. You'll always see that a Lesson is exclusive before you record, and you keep ownership of your footage.

Don't just rent your time.

Taught isn't trying to create cheaper hourly labor. It's a marketplace where human knowledge has residual value.

Better teachers earn a bigger share.

Quality matters. Teachers build a track record, and better work raises your Teacher Level. Each level carries a bigger share of royalties — and levels only go up.

Your level is built on

  • Recording quality
  • Accepted Lessons
  • Following Lesson requirements
  • Months of activity
  • Range across categories
  1. Where every Teacher starts
    Level 1
  2. A few accepted Lessons of good quality
    Level 2
  3. Consistent quality over several months
    Level 3
  4. High quality across more than one category
    Level 4
  5. Top quality, sustained, across categories
    Level 5

Shares reflect the current compensation configuration and may change; a new share applies to future licenses. Level is driven by quality, accepted Lessons, active months and category range — never raw upload volume. Royalties depend on licensing activity and are not guaranteed.

First-person view of hands setting a place at a long wooden dining table

Robots are learning to live in our world.

That means someone has to teach them what we barely think about anymore.

How hard to grip a glass. How to stack a plate. How a towel folds.Where the spoon goes. How to open the cabinet without hitting the drawer. How to tell when something is clean.

The physical world runs on billions of tiny lessons humans learned years ago.

Now those lessons have value again.

Robots need teachers too.

What do you know
that a robot doesn't?

Probably a lot. Request early access — Taught is opening to adults 18+ in the US first.

Takes less than a minute.

Questions

What is Taught?

An app where you record first-person video of everyday tasks — loading a dishwasher, folding laundry, restocking a shelf — so robots can learn how people really do them. Taught turns those recordings into training data for robotics companies and pays the people who teach.

Who can take part?

At launch, adults 18 and older in the United States. Requesting early access puts you on the list; it doesn’t create an account.

Do I need special equipment?

Usually just a phone. Some Lessons need hands-free video, which means an inexpensive head or chest mount — see gear.

How do I get paid?

Accepted Lessons earn a base award in Gold. Eligible Lessons can also earn royalties in Gold when they are licensed. You redeem Gold for gift cards. How earning works.

Are royalties guaranteed?

No. Royalties depend on future licensing activity, and a royalty becomes available once the buyer’s payment settles.

Can the same Lesson earn more than once?

Eligible non-exclusive Lessons can be licensed to more than one robotics company, and each license can earn a royalty.

Can one company own my recording?

No. You own your original footage. Some buyer-funded Exclusive Lessons are licensed exclusively to one buyer — the Lesson says so before you record, and it pays a guaranteed one-time award instead of royalties.

What happens to my data?

Recordings are reviewed for quality, prepared as training data, licensed to qualified robotics and AI companies and may help train Taught's own AI models, under Taught's terms. You earn royalties when your recordings, or Taught models trained on them, are licensed or sold. You'll see which Lessons are exclusive before you record. Read the Terms of Service.
